Week 3 of the 21-Day Feel Better Challenge
Day 15: Saturday, August 15. Take a hot bath:
When was the last time you took a nice hot bath? Taking a bath or shower before bedtime is a well-known sleep remedy. This is partly because a warm bath can help us relax, but also because our body temperature tends to drop after a warm bath, which can induce better sleep. Tonight, about 90 minutes before bed, take your daily dose of CBD and draw yourself a nice warm bath or shower. Afterwards, get in cozy pajamas, read a book, and let yourself fall asleep naturally.

Day 16: Sunday, August 16. Give yourself a massage.
Yes it is possible. A massage can take the edge off and help relax even the tensest of people. After a shower or bath, find your favorite oil or lotion (better yet, make it a CBD oil like this one), and take some time to rub your body down. The oil will help you reduce stress hormones, calm your mind, and help you sleep. If you do have a partner around, you can always ask for them to rub you down too. Make it fun. 😉

Day 17: Monday, August 17. No phones two hours before bed.
This one might be a real challenge for some people. Looking at your phone before bed increases alertness at night and makes it harder to fall asleep. Also, the blue light emanating from your screens (including television) suppresses the release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin, and makes it more difficult to fall asleep. So do yourself a favor and get off those screens. Read a book if you need something to fall asleep to.

Day 18: Tuesday, August 18. What was your favorite thing today?
It’s especially easy lately to get lost in the difficulty of our days and to feel buried in everything we have on our plates. It’s important to take a moment out of the day and remember something that you really loved. Every night my family and I sit around the dinner table and share what our favorite thing of the day was. It’s a way to highlight something good that happened, even if it felt small. Life is beautiful even in the craziness. So ask yourself what your favorite thing was today, and maybe write it down or share it with someone you love.

Day 19: Wednesday, August 19. Put your legs up the wall.
If your mind is running and you have trouble falling asleep, or if you just need a way to calm your mind, this is one of my favorite tricks. Lay down on the floor. Scoot your behind up to the wall as close as possible, and throw your legs up the wall. This is a simple, well-known restorative yoga pose that can calm anxiety and relieve depression and insomnia. I do it in my bed before I fall asleep. It helps calm everything down so I can rest more easily. Be sure to take your CBD before bed.

Day 20: Thursday, August 20. Listen to music.

You will notice that music has the power to ease muscle tension and lower your breathing. This is a great tool to calm yourself after a crazy long day. They can be small things, but simply take a moment to celebrate yourself and how far you’ve come. We don’t take enough time to reflect and celebrate ourselves. You’ve earned it.
